Metro Houston created 19,100 jobs in April and 80,700 jobs over the past 12 months, according to the Partnership’s analysis of data released today by the Texas Workforce Commission. Most sectors are growing, and the region has seen no uptick in claims for unemployment insurance.

April’s jobs report placed nonfarm payroll employment in the region at 3,437,400. At the current pace of growth, the region should top 3.5 million jobs by the April of next year.
